Your Roadmap to Happiness:

Welcome to the first-ever Design Her Travel newsletter!! I’m so happy that you’re here. My goal each week is to bring you beautiful stories of travel, adventure, and intentional living.

Because, let’s face it, this game of life can be hard sometimes and we all find ourselves needing a little inspiration.

So, let this be your inspiration. Let this be the support you need to do the dang thing! Whatever that is… booking the flights, asking the girl out, quitting your job, or saying no to a prior commitment when you realize it’s time for a shift in priorities.

You name it. I’m here for you. And I’ll make sure you remember that each and every week. You’ve got this!!

Each Tuesday, I’ll send this little love letter straight to your inbox. You can expect the inside scoop on this week’s podcast episode, interesting travel stories, your own personal pep talk, and the latest offerings from Design Her Travel.

I'm so excited to be on this journey together! Here we go!

Weekly Episode:

As we’re nearing the holiday season thoughts of family come to mind. It’s a time of reflection. For many, we gather with family and friends and reflect on the loved ones no longer with us, the celebrations of years gone by, and we catch up on where everyone is in the world and how we fill our days.

It’s the time of year when darkness settles in early, the temperatures here in the US begin to drop, leaves fall like rain and the thoughts of winter hibernation become real. Living in a rural community where many people spend their days working outside, it becomes a time when people begin to gather indoors.

For me, it’s a time to reflect on the past year and take a tally of what worked and what didn’t.

As a traveler, I have spent many holidays around the world away from family. I’ll never forget the first year seeing Christmas lights strung up and down the palm trees, Surfer Santa making his rounds, and the novelty of the summer holiday.

Traveling has provided the opportunity for me to experience traditional holidays in a variety of ways, discover new holidays (Hello Boxing Day!), and pick and choose what now works for me and my family.

Time has provided that gift of exploration.

This week’s episode is a beautiful story of just such an exploration. Brittney Highland of Hourless Life shares the remarkable story of how she and her husband have created a life that is 100% true to their values as individuals and as a family.

They're currently overlanding in South America with a mission to drive around the entire world - sharing their story along the way.

During the episode, Brittney walks us through the process of a life regroup that she and her husband use to define their core values and determine what’s important in their life.

Her story and their mission is truly inspiring. (Click here to listen)

I don’t believe you have to travel the world or take an extraordinary leap to create the life of your dreams. Brittney’s story is here for you as a guide. It defines a process that you can utilize in your own life to get clear on what you would like to create more of and what you'd like to release.

The world needs more people living their greatest joys in life.

We need more people saying yes to the things that light them up. We need more people living in full YESSSS! Living a full YES gives others permission to do the same.

My question for you this week is what is one way you can live your full YES this week? What is one thing that you can do that will bring you great joy?

Go do that thing.

Maybe that means breaking out the art supplies and tapping into your long-forgotten creativity, or maybe you carve out 5-10 minutes before work to journal. Whatever it is, gift yourself the freedom and time to live into your greatest joy - one step at a time.

We all climb a mountain the same way - one small step at a time.

I’ll see you at the top!

Through light and peace,

Kim

Design Her Travel January 9th | No. 8 Carving Your Path in Life ↓ Hello beautiful souls on the other side of the screen. Welcome back to this week's Design Her Travel newsletter. I don't know about you, but for me, life feels as if it’s slowly moving from the post-holiday hibernation slump back to ‘regular’ life. My energy is returning and I'm ready to face my Q1 task list. As I sit down to write this, it's Sunday morning and my son has just pulled out of the driveway to begin his journey...

Design Her Travel January 2nd | Ep. 7 Sailing Through Life ↓ Let’s hear it for 2024! 🥳 We made it! 🥳 I don’t know if you’re anything like me, but 2023 has been a RIDE! I certainly have many things to celebrate (hello, you!) and other things that I’m more than happy to leave behind. Let’s just say the learning curve of the last couple of years has been steep. But, through it all, I’m happy to be ringing in this new year with gladness. Annnnd, I not only get to ring in a new calendar year this...

Design Her Travel December 18th | Ep. 6 Home for the Holidays✨ ↓ If you’re anything like me, the beauty of the holiday season can easily get buried underneath the hustle and bustle of gatherings, gifts, and general life to-do lists. Throw in the desire (aka self-induced pressure) to wrap up the current year and begin welcoming the next. Then, add in kids home from school, the need for downtime and relaxation, and well, it can all feel a little overwhelming. One of my greatest lessons for 2023...
