Carving Your Path in Life↓ Hello beautiful souls on the other side of the screen. Welcome back to this week's Design Her Travel newsletter. I don't know about you, but for me, life feels as if it’s slowly moving from the post-holiday hibernation slump back to ‘regular’ life. My energy is returning and I'm ready to face my Q1 task list. As I sit down to write this, it's Sunday morning and my son has just pulled out of the driveway to begin his journey back to school. His arrival there will kick off his final semester of high school. The holidays have been filled with all the regular activities of family gatherings and meals shared between friends. But, this season had the added bonus of college acceptance letters and financial aid applications. There has been a lot of talk about the future and what both he and I desire to create. We talked about what’s important for us as a family and tapped into some of the hopes he has as he begins his transition into this next phase of life. One thing at the forefront of our discussion is carving your own path in life. This idea resonates deeply with me as I’ve never been one to live a ‘traditional’ life path. That routine has never called me. If anything, I’ve found great joy in bucking the norm. As a youth, I did my own thing partially for fun and partly out of stubbornness. If I was told something couldn’t be done, then I said watch me. The doubt fueled my fire. Through that journey, what I’ve learned is that I’m not made to be a follower. I’m made to lead and I always have been. As my son begins forging his path in the world the lesson for me is really about trust. I’m being called on to trust him and to trust that he too will carve a path that is uniquely his. As his parent, my greatest hope is that he chooses happiness above all else. That he has the bravery to block out the noise and to trust his instincts. I know that mistakes will be made. How else do we learn in life? I hope that he learns quickly, pivots as needed, and follows the yellow brick road of joy - no matter where that leads him. Parenting and carving our way in life isn’t a topic I dive into much on the Design Her Travel podcast. But, this week’s conversation with Savanna Crowley touches base on that very premise. Weekly Episode:Savanna is a young, fresh voice in the world of travel and content creation and she’s living life on her terms. She's learning how to carve a life that is uniquely hers and that brings her joy. Through that process, she inspires over 100,000 people daily across her social media channels. She is inspiring a generation of women to get out into the world, face their fears, and do scary things. She’s a living example that we don’t need to have all the answers in life. We get to figure it out as we go. We just need to start. Life gets to be as easy as saying yes to the things that light us up. I found Savanna’s youthful enthusiasm inspiring and I think you will, too. If the upcoming generation continues to choose joy in life, our future might just surprise us all and shine brightly. I'm curious. What inspires you in life right now? How have you chosen joy today? Hit reply and let me know. To a future full of joy, light, love & inspiration - Until next time, Kim |

Design Her Travel December 18th | Ep. 6 Home for the Holidays✨ ↓ If you’re anything like me, the beauty of the holiday season can easily get buried underneath the hustle and bustle of gatherings, gifts, and general life to-do lists. Throw in the desire (aka self-induced pressure) to wrap up the current year and begin welcoming the next. Then, add in kids home from school, the need for downtime and relaxation, and well, it can all feel a little overwhelming. One of my greatest lessons for 2023...
Design Her Travel December 12th | Ep. 5 Finding Your Way Through Travel ↓ Many of the journeys I’ve taken in life have been to explore the unknown regions of the world. And, like many of you I’d imagine, that’s the perfect reason to hop on a plane and venture into the great unknown. That exploration has been the fuel to my fire of life. It is the essence of who I am in the world. I thrive when surrounded by newness in my day to day. Recently however, life has thrown me some challenging...
