Living as a Global Citizen↓ Happy December - Happy Tuesday - Happy Days!! ✨ ‘Tis the time of year that the world seems to move in unity. I’m aware that word may seem like the furthest thing from the truth right now, but stay with me. As humans, we love to tick off measurements of time. We make to-do lists on the regular, create life goals, and measure our success according to the length of time it takes for us to accomplish them, we celebrate birthday milestones in decades, and for many of us right now we begin counting down the final days of the year only to start making plans for the next. We come by this desire naturally. The moon cycles through four lunar phases each month, Mother Nature cycles through four seasons in a year, and so it feels in sync to take time to reflect and recognize the cycles of life. I love slowing down to take time and honor the changing seasons. Regardless of your take on honoring this time, one thing is certain. Right now, there is movement on the planet at greater rates than at any other time in history. We move ourselves (hello, holiday travel!), our products, our ideas, and our services around the globe at unprecedented rates. Think how often you’ve either heard someone say or said to yourself “I don’t know where the time has gone. It flies!” As humans, we are unified in our feeling of time speeding up. We’re unified in the volume of information inundating our systems each day. We’re unified in the products we carry with us, and we’re unified in our movement around the globe. I’ve considered myself a global citizen for the better part of two decades. When I first recognized myself at home within the world - regardless of location - it was less common for people to understand the concept. For many, a global citizen is living without borders and I would agree. That is a part of the equation. But, there’s more to it. It’s also a shift in mindset. There’s an understanding that what I do in my little corner of the world affects what you do in your little corner of the world. This concept is a foundational piece in the work of this week’s podcast guest, Freeman Fung. Weekly Episode:Freeman is an international speaker and author of the bestselling book Travel to Transform. He has advocated new global citizenship at TEDx, Mindvalley, and world tourism forums. Freeman is a true believer in the power of the mind and is on a mission to awaken more world citizens and make our world a better place through personal transformation. In his recently published book, Travel to Transform*, he teaches how we can all use traveling as a holistic personal growth tool and the fast-track to self-mastery. We discuss the beautiful perspective that we’re all living as global citizens - no matter if we travel or not. We take a look at the ways our day-to-day lives are influenced by global ideas and how we can work to include greater peace and unity through this awareness. At a time in history, when most of us live as global citizens in one way or another, but people are still dying every day to protect a border, this conversation comes as a breath of fresh air. How do you see yourself as a global citizen? What does that mean to you? Hit reply and let me know. Until next time. In peace and unity, Kim PS. I recently had the opportunity to be a guest on the Women Waken podcast. It's a beautiful conversation about abundance and the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Design Her Travel December 18th | Ep. 6 Home for the Holidays✨ ↓ If you’re anything like me, the beauty of the holiday season can easily get buried underneath the hustle and bustle of gatherings, gifts, and general life to-do lists. Throw in the desire (aka self-induced pressure) to wrap up the current year and begin welcoming the next. Then, add in kids home from school, the need for downtime and relaxation, and well, it can all feel a little overwhelming. One of my greatest lessons for 2023...
